Wny For Me Every Day is National Arbor Day

In the USA we have a designated day to celebrate trees. It's called National Arbor Day and the holiday occurs annually on the last Friday in the month of April.

I never wait for a special day of the year or during the week to show my respect for trees. I say Trees Deserve Respect every day of the year!  Even though it is a work of fiction, in real life, we should all be just like The Man Who Planted Trees.

I used to be active on Google Plus. It was supposed to be Google's answer to Facebook. Uh huh. It didn't last. They shut it down. But when it was up and running one of my favorite hashtags was #TreeTuesday. People would share photos and facts about some of the most amazing trees on planet earth. I loved to participate in the social sharing.

I am active in lots of social communities and find opportunities to share my love for trees. Because no matter what anybody says about living on Mars and exploring other planets, Earth is the only planet that has trees! For that reason, I support tree loving, tree hugging, tree conservation, and anything else that has do with saving trees. Save the trees and you save the planet!!

Here are few of my posts about trees that I shared in a lively social community called Noise.Cash. Hope you enjoy them!

Movies I Hate: “There Will Be Blood” (2007)

Even though I am a loyal fan of Daniel Day-Lewis (Sir Daniel Michael Blake Day-Lewis), I hated this movie!  “There Will Be Blood” (2007).

So was there blood? Oh yeah!

There Will Be Blood

The movie is loosely based on the 1927 novel “Oil!” by Upton Sinclair. It is about achieving the American Dream. This movie won 2 Oscars. The critics have said that it is “one of the greatest films of the 21st century”.

When you watch this film, you will have to admit that everybody played their parts. The acting was OUTSTANDING!! They acted so well that I HATED the 2 main characters.

Daniel Day-Lewis (Sir Daniel Michael Blake Day-Lewis) played Daniel Plainview and he wants to be rich. He will achieve his wealth no matter what the cost. He comes into a town and wants to set up business but he has to deal with the people. Mainly … he has to deal with a preacher, named Eli Sunday (played by Paul Dano) who is just as greedy and ruthless as he is! UUGGG!!! Those two men were awful! I hated both of them!

But it was a good movie!

Travel: Texas Cities: DALLAS, TEXAS (Big D)

DALLAS, TEXAS (Big D)

Not one of my favorite Texas cities, but a lot of people are happy to accept employment and go live there. Sadly, many of US remember Dallas as the city where our beloved president John F. Kennedy, was assassinated. But there are lots of good things to be said about this city, such as:

~ It has the nation's largest arts district. Bigger than New York and Los Angeles.

~ German chocolate cake originated in Dallas and was named after an American chocolate maker Samuel German.

~ The pilot season for the popular TV show “Dallas” (which ran from 1978 - 1991) was shot entirely on location in Dallas, Texas. Later on, most of the set was moved to MGM Studios in California, with some scenes shot at a ranch in Parker, Texas, and at a few locations in Dallas.

Movie Review: Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007)

The year is 1991. It's a summer day, and this incident occurred at the Lokhandwala Complex, Mumbai, India. It lasted for 6 hours. Law enforcement declared war on a ruthless criminal gang who was in the complex and who refused to come out peacefully. The lethal force used to bring the gangsters to justice was called into question.

But the lawyer played by Amitabh Bachchan who defended the police officers and other law enforcement officials, in their defense, asked one question that would make a judge or anybody else say … “The officers use of lethal force was wholly justified. Case dismissed.” This movie was intense! When you realize it's a true story, it's not just intense, it shocking!

BBC Mystery and Suspense: Page Eight (2011)

Page Eight” (2011) is a BBC Masterpiece Contemporary Mystery television series about a British intelligence analyst, Johnny Worricker, who refuses to compromise his integrity. This television show is loaded with powerhouse British actors and actresses.

Johnny Worricker (Bill Nighy) is a loyal government servant, and a kind gentleman who loves art and does not have much time for a social life. But he meets a young woman, Nancy Pierpan (played by Rachel Weisz). They live in the same apartment building, so she's a neighbor. She has a problem. She wants to know the truth about her brother's death. She knows the “official story” just can't be true. In his position in intelligence, Mr. Worricker could probably find the answers. Should he?

Helping his neighbor is the sub-plot. The main plot is that Mr. Worricker uncovers something about the British Prime Minister on “page 8” of an intelligence report. What should he do?

An intense and suspenseful political thriller.  If it hooks you, you’ll probably want to watch the entire triology: Masterpiece: Worricker Trilogy Collection (Salting the Battlefield; Turks & Caicos; Page Eight)

Summer 2021: Sunflowers in Texas

There was a minister I knew who used to always say these words to the congregation before he began his sermon.  He would say: "God is good".  The congregation would respond:  "All the time!"  Then he would say: "All the time!" and the congregation would respond:  "God is good".

We folks in Texas are not accustomed to harsh winters.  The snowstorm in February 2021 took us completely by surprise.  It was the first time the entire state of Texas was ever told to brace for the snow. Although according the news reports, we would have been able to weather the storm had the power grid not failed!  Now it's summer time and they are telling us not to use to so much electric power because it would strain the grid.

I am not going to complain.

The Lord helped me survive the winter storm.  Now He is helping me make it through the summer heat.  Uuhh ... Did I say heat?  What heat?  I have been living in Texas since 1995.  Having been used to scorching hot Texas summers and enduring triple-digit temperatures (100 degrees plus), our summer days this year have been 80 degrees, some of them were even in the 70s and it rained!

As if the pleasant summer weather wasn't enough to show His blessings.  Guess what?

SUNFLOWERS ARE BLOOMING!!

In Texas, we always get excited about the blue bonnets since that is our state flower. But this summer (2021) sunflowers seems to be popping up in parts of South and Central Texas. It's so unusual they reported it in the local news!

“Texas is seeing sunflowers everywhere this summer for unexpected reasons …”

sunflowers

"A field of sunflowers is amazing to see. Every single flower is parallel to the others around it. ... Because of a central focus, sunflowers stay unified in purpose and position. ...

Sunflowers symbolize adoration, loyalty and longevity. Much of the meaning of sunflowers stems from its namesake, the sun itself."

What is a Throwback? Here are Three (3) Awesome Examples!

This post shares 3 AWESOME THROWBACKS!

What is a THROWBACK?

~ a person or thing having the characteristics of a former time

~ a sudden reminder of a person or thing from the past

So far I have posted several times to my entertainment blog, mainly my favorite music videos, and I plan to post more because I have a lot of memories that are blasts from the past. Mainly, I like sharing music videos. But I share other stuff too like vintage clothing, hairstyles, childhood memories, etc.  Three throwbacks are shared below.

throwback

(1) Throwback Hairstyles ~ 1975: Afros Diana Ross, lead singer for the Motown group The Supremes, and an accomplished solo artist and actress, was known throughout her career for all kinds of different hairstyles. By the 1970s, she mostly alternated between a chic bob and a show-stopping afro hairdo.

(2)  CORNROW HAIRSTYLES: When I attended university in the 70s, cornrows were very popular. It's 2021. They say they're making a comeback. I never knew they left! LOL.

(3)  James Byron Dean (1931 – 1955) , American actor, cultural icon; remembered for his role as a disillusioned troubled teenager in the movie, “Rebel Without a Cause” (1955).

If it weren't for James Dean, would any guys wear a white T-shirt and a leather jacket?
